The Rachel Jennifer Cut

This morning (February 22nd), Jennifer Aniston stepped out in Madrid, Spain promoting her new film with Adam Sandler, "Just Go With It," with a dramatically shorter hair style.

Aniston, is known for her gorgeous locks. From the beginning of her incredibly famous and iconic haircut of the nineties, named the Rachel Cut, that was copied by women all over the world, to her more recent layered and sleek look, she has had dozens of hair transformations.

Her new look, however, was a bit of a shock. Spring has seen many takes on the shoulder grazing cut. But to me, Aniston looks years older.

What do you think readers? Is this a HIT or MISS??

Would You Hold It Against Her?

Last night (February 17th), Britney Spears debuted the music video off her new single, "Hold It Against Me," on MTV and Vevo.com.

The video hit many things right. The look, the choreography, their sponsors... wait... sponsors?

That's right, multiple OBVIOUS product placements were seen in the video... A bit cheesy if I do say so myself.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely loving Spears' new song and video, but has the world of advertising become so obsessed with selling, that they have to force a good chunk of music video time by showing the audience what to buy?

In the first few seconds of the video you already see plenty of well known products. Spears' fragrance: Radiance, Makeup Forever, Sony, and the online dating site PlentyOfFish.com.

What do you think readers? Did the video inspire you to indulge and purchase these products, or did you find it a waste of precious Britney Spears grooving time?

Grammy or Granny?

Last night (February 13th) on CBS was the 53rd Grammy Awards. If you tuned in you must already know who won and who didn't, but what I am more interested in, of course, is the Fashion.

Here are my choices for last nights best and worst dressed stars.

'The HIT-List'

Metallic Babes

Heidi Klum

Are we surprised? This model, TV Personality, mom and wife knows "what's in and what's out," and she definitely judged herself correctly.

She looked absolutely flawless in this custom made Julien Macdonald gold gown, paired with the most exquisite multi colored snake skin peep toes.

Miley Cyrus

This Disney Teen Queen may have lived under a close radar all these years. I mean, being a Role Model is not an easy job, but Miley can safely say she is stepping into Adulthood nicely in this sequined Roberto Cavalli number.

Just the right mix between a woman and teen. Her honey colored hair, simple makeup and bangles makes this an incredible red carpet look.

Jennifer Lopez

The new American Idol Judge wowed once again in this mirrored Pucci mini, showcasing her (new source of income) gams in matching Christian Louboutin heels and Cartier ring.

I wonder if she used a Gillette Venus razor being she is the Brand's Global Ambassador?

Sexy, Simple and Sophisticated Starlets

Florence Welch

Her voice may be a 'machine' but Florence is definitely a star on the red carpet.

Her simple, vintage inspired Givenchy Couture dress, was the ideal look to match the artist's personality.

Her copper hair and simple makeup accented the cream colored, dreamy gown perfectly.

Jennifer Hudson

This former 'idol' finalist, looked the best she ever has, in this elegant, navy Versace dress, Neil Lane cuff and Christian Louboutin pumps.

The sleek hair and creamy makeup was the right look for this beauty.

I guess she didn't need to win American Idol to prove she's a winner every where else.

Nicole Kidman

Though this Australian actress isn't a recording artist, like her husband, Keith Urban, she definitely is a leading lady, and she's proved it in this rustic floral Jean Paul Gaultier dress.

The color and the fit makes you think this dress was designed specifically for her. I guess this is what makes her such a mysterious and elegant woman.

Selena Gomez

Though she may not be coming out publicly with her rumored romance with teen heartthrob, Justin Bieber. She has however, publicly announced her love of fashion.

She looked glamorous in this soft, cream J. Mendel gown, simple clutch and hair.

This young lady is going to go far.

Hillary Scott

Lady Antebellum's lead singer walked the red carpet in a new 'do, sporting longer locks, bangs and a fresh hazel hue.

Not only did Lady A snag 'Song of The Year' for "Need You Now," but they also won 'Record of The Year.'

Hillary looked radiant in a form flattering Roberto Cavalli dress, accented with a sweetheart top and empire waist and turquoise smokey eyes.

Beyonce

The beautiful singer looked classy in this simple sequined blazer and metallic shorts ensemble.

Showing off her best assets of course, in a simple chain necklace, newly blonde locks and perfect gams. We're a bit surprised that she didn't nab one of the two awards she was nominated for.

We Don't Get It But We Dig It

Rihanna

The singer was a definite show stopper last night. Not, just by her fashion choices, but for her incredible performances, yes I said performances.

She belted out tunes with Eminem and Dr. Dre, than brought us close to her Barbados roots in her "What's My Name?" performance with Drake.

Despite her confirmed illness she looked refreshing in this barely there white and sheer, Jean Paul Gaultier gown.

Nicki Manaj

She showed up to the red carpet in this double take of an outfit and The Bride of Frankenstein inspired hair, BUT, she really didn't disappoint.

Grammy's are about artists, and artists have their cooky sides that only other artists understand, and this is a great example.

She was head to toe Givenchy in this safari-eque look. It sure turned heads, but it's a look only she can rock.

Someone Fire Their Stylist ASAP!

Kim Kardashian

I may get tons of hate mail for this, but this look has not only been done, but it died... years ago.

The gold Franco Kaufman dress is the perfect color for this Armenian Reality Queen but, the plunging neckline and extensively cut slit, belongs on a Playboy bunny or Vegas show girl.

The Lorraine Schwartz serpent bracelet was nice but sorry Kim... What were you thinking?

Katy Perry

Either her performance on The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show inspired this pop star or she paired her wedding dress with wings, but either way Katy, leave this look for the bedroom... with your husband... and ONLY your husband.

This Armani Prive gown should not have made it out in public last night, however her hair, I like.

Jordin Sparks

I'm not sure what is going on here? The color is great. The look is not.

This red Zang Toi gown reminds me of a wedding dress that has been dyed and altered, horribly.

Sometimes the "Recycle" term shouldn't apply to dresses.

Now, here we are: The MEN'S 'Black-List.'

I'm not sure if all the men met up and decided to look horrid for the Grammy's? Or they just don't know any better? But this category is dedicated to them.

David Guetta

Recently, the well known DJ, has become very mainstream, we get it David, do what sales. BUT, please don't tell us you're auditioning for a Modern take on a Shakespearean play about a gangster Romeo?

I guess the industry is getting too tough... keep your day job David, for our eye's sake.

John Mayer

No, I didn't get the name wrong, this isn't Johnny Depp. Don't let the beard, hair, sunglasses, pose and even messy attire fool you, this is truly John Mayer.

I kind of wish it wasn't though.

This look is too mismatched to work, but if there was an award for the best look a like, Mr. Mayer you would definitely win.

Justin Bieber

I was hoping Justin could make me a Beiliber in one of his traits, but he's failed me once again.

This cream colored Gucci tux would work great if it were:

1- 2 sizes smaller
2- He wasn't wearing high tops
3- If the high tops were at least the SAME color.

Sorry Justin fans, I know you're disappointed he didn't win 'Best New Artist', but let's be honest, he didn't win Best Dressed either.

Usher

O-M-G! is right Usher, maybe little Justin Bieber should look for a new mentor, his current one's style is rubbing off.

I don't know what's worse, the VERY UNFLATTERING tight pants, the untucked pajama of a shirt, his horse riding boots or the fact his new hair is merging with his afro of a beard?

All in all, this look is just wrong.

Do you agree readers? Do these artists belong on 'The HIT-List'? and do these men belong on 'The Black-List'?

Katy with an ELLE

Is it just me or does it feel like Katy Perry is EVERYWHERE lately?

First, the 26 year old singer gets married to funny man, Russel Brand, then she's belting tunes on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, had controversy with Sesame Street, and now she's the face of ProActiv Skin Care.

That's not all readers, Katy has recently dabbled with a few TV stints.

Monday February 7th, she made a small cameo on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother", as a clueless, new to the city, big eyed dreamer. The following day, Tuesday February 8th, her hit "Firework" was performed by Rachel Berry - alias Lea Michele -- in a Valentine's Day-themed episode of Fox's "Glee". Finally this weekend, Sunday February 13th, she will not only present, but she will also perform at the 53rd Grammy Awards, where she has also been nominated for four of music's top honors including Album of the Year (for "Teenage Dream").

What's her next project you ask? Mrs. Brand also graces the March cover of Elle Magazine.

Phew... exhale...

Before Katy Perry became the most talked about and wanted women, the onetime Christian rocker was blond, broke, and written off by her record company.

A classic Cinderella story indeed.

We've seen her transform from a modern day pin up girl to one of today's boding Fashionistas, and on the March issue of Elle, she has traveled back in time to the 70s.

She dons the cover in a vibrant Gucci concoction. I'm not sure if I'm a fan or if the look resembles a bit of Patridge Family nostalgia? Either way, this one time girl kissing pop star, definitely has a few impressive bullet points on her resume.

You be the judge readers? Does Katy's look belong on 'The HIT-List' or in the dark pages of 'The Black-List'?

Pick up the March issue of Elle for the exclusive interview, on stands February 15th.

J.Lo is J. Whoa

On February 3rd, the new Global Ambassador for Venus Razors, Jennifer Lopez picked the right outfit to show of her gorgeous gams.

The American Idol judge, wore a silver sequin Haute Hippie skirt with a refreshing crisp cream blouse. The look was paired with very appropriate mary jane Louboutin's and sparking, yet simple, H. Stern diamonds.

She definitely judged this look accurately.

What do you think readers? Does J.Lo deserve to be on today's 'The HIT-List'?

Make-Up Helpful Forever

Cheers readers and welcome to 2011's first entry on 'The HIT-List'.

This entry is all about Make Up Forever's new location inside Sephora, at the South Coast Plaza.

I'm not sure if you have had the same experiences I'm about to share, but have you ever felt that you come to a make up counter and feel not only overwhelmed, but also "forced" to buy products you're not 100% sure about? Welcome to my world.

Cosmetics, are easily a grown up girls' candy. The beautiful array of lipsticks, eyeshadow, powders and gloss, can make you go dizzy. The lovely done up artists make you believe that you too, can look effortlessly flawless.

Before Christmas I was in a terrible car accident. The type that makes you wake up each night with a different outcome to the way things happened. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't smile and I definitely was not in the mood to celebrate the holidays.

Christmas came and went quickly and finally, came New Years Eve. My excuses of missing events were no longer accepted by my friends and family, and I was asked to accompany a friend to West Hollywood's W Hotel, NYE event.

My mom bought me this gorgeous, fully beaded, champagne mini by Parker, that I paired with my snake skin purple Bebe pumps. I got my hair done by my friend and incredible hair stylist Rhonda Cota, from Carlton Hair South Coast Plaza. She gave me an appropriate voluminous look, and all that was left was my makeup.

I'm normally one who gets my makeup done at the last minute,
at the closest MAC Counter or boutique. I've never found the right location or the right make up artist that I have been loyal enough to go back to each time.

After getting my hair done by Rhonda, she suggested I get my makeup done by the crew at the new Make Up Forever Boutique. I was already tired and still didn't have the energy to go out, but I knew if I missed New Years Eve, I'd miss the opportunity to begin 2011 happy.

I willingly walked over to Sephora near Bloomingdales, where Make Up Forever was located. When I walked in the store, it was filled with customers and smiling Artists. It looked like a Hollywood Make up set with mirrors covered in lights and counters filled with such vibrant colors.

I was welcomed by a make up artist named Brittany James. I had asked her if I bought lashes if she would help me put them on, and without hesitation she said she would, and even suggested a few lashes she thought would look great on me.

After choosing the right lashes I asked Brittany if she could possibly do my eye make up as well. Ever so generously she told me she had a client who was supposed to be coming in soon, but she would love to begin my makeup application until then.

She asked what my dress would look like and what I was thinking of getting done, and I left it up to her. We began conversing and every few minutes other make up artists would come up and join in on our conversation.

I felt at home, relaxed and even laughed a few times, something that I hadn't done in a while.

Brittany took her time, didn't rush or even force me to buy any of the products. When she was done and I looked in the mirror, I almost cried. She made me look beautiful. I hadn't felt beautiful in a few weeks and I even felt excited for the evening, actually EXCITED.

Make Up Forever, not only has incredible make up, they also have amazing artists. Artists who are not just talented, but also kind.

Weeks went by and coincidentally, my mother, a woman who is very indecisive, stopped into Make Up Forever. She's been in search of this specific color for months and has had no luck. She stopped in and spoke to who else? Brittany. My mother came home raving about her experience at Make Up Forever. Let me tell you, she is definitely not the easiest person to please and when it comes to buying cosmetics, if it's not sold on QVC, she needs days to think it
over before she makes a purchase.

Brittany spent over an hour mixing colors to get the right
shade for my mother. After an hour had past my mom asked for her card and said she will come back in the next few days. Before leaving or saying goodbye my mom decided she would buy the colors Brittany had suggested.

Brittany kindly recommended that she could put the color on my mom and have her walk around, think about it, then if she's satisfied to purchase the lipsticks. Her sweet tone and helpful assistance made my mom fall in love with her. My mother had then asked Brittany to help her find the perfect lip liner for her new look (Lip liner, in my mom's world, is the seal of acceptance).

The purpose of this post is to not just boast about one amazing artist, but to also praise Phillip Moreno, Jen Evans and the rest of the team at South Coast Plaza's, Make Up Forever.

They are all educated, incredibly talented and genuinely kind people, who have their customer's best interests at heart. They aren't here to make a buck, they are here to help other women, like myself, who just need a few pointers and a helping hand.

I suggest to all my readers to go and try the experience I had, for themselves. I guarantee you will be sold and more importantly, you will find an Artist you can put in your phone book and even your speed dial.

Make Up Forever has received 2011's First Hit-List Award.

XOXO,
