Last night (Sunday, September 12th, 2010) at the
MTV VMA's at the Nokia Center in Downtown Los Angeles,
Lady Gaga not only turned heads in her 3 dress changes but she also had people holding their noses with her final dress choice.
Her first gown was a romantic dress and head piece from the late designer,
Alexander McQueen's final collection, her second was a custom made architecturally built
Giorgio Armani gown and her third was a PETA No-No!
Designer
Franc Fernandez, not only dressed the Pop Queen in
slabs of raw meat, but he also accessorized her with matching boots, hat and purse!!
The designer has yet to comment on his direction but Gaga freely commented on the
Ellen DeGeneres show, shortly after the VMA's, stating that she wore the dress (similar to one she wore on the cover of
Vogue Hommes Japan), to make a statement.
"It's certainly no disrespect to anyone that's vegan or vegetarian," Gaga responded. "As you know, I am the most judgment-free human being on the earth. It has many interpretations, but for me this evening, it's 'If we don't stand up for what we believe in, we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're gonna have as much rights as the meat on our bones."
DeGeneres didn't seem to buy the explanation, so she presented Gaga with an alternative outfit, a vegetable bikini and skirt made of corn husks.
Cher, who awarded Gaga with the final trophy and even famously held Gaga's
"meat purse" on stage twitted about the getup. ""The way it was cut & fitted to her body was AMAZING ! Meat purse was genius ! As Art piece it was astonishing! No moral Judgment!"
